Forty Hours

I did not like the things they had to say.

The current economic crisis meant

That I should have to work on Saturday.

 

Why must I have to work the extra day?

I cannot get it back once it is spent.

I want to sit and watch my children play,

Ignore the note my supervisor sent.

What might they do if I do not obey?                

How will I buy our food or pay the rent?

Our bosses think the workers easy prey.

Making more profit is their sole intent,

We will not let them take our rights away!

The union will our interests represent.
