Remembering Copake at Iguaçu

When I was young I saw a waterfall
A single stream into a crystal pool
For twenty feet or more
There in the water childlike lovers play

The scent of pine is heavy in the air
Its pungent sweetness carried by the mist
While rushing water sprays
The peal of lover’s laughter in my ears

Iguaçu dominates my senses now
White rising vapors fill the eastern sky
That panoramic sight
Cannot obscure my view of Copake Falls
