Liberty Is A Tree That Must Be Watered

Liberty is a tree that must be watered,
with the blood of patriot men who will be slaughtered
to reclaim the rights the cowardly have bartered.
Yes, Liberty is a tree that must be watered.

The government should keep our shores secure,
protect the helpless, clothe and feed the poor.
One thing that I insist they know for sure.
Their claims to power end at my front door.

Is life so dear or peace on earth so sweet
to trade for chains and shackles on our feet?
Shall we not fight till death, never retreat,
to stand as free men at the judgment seat?

The strong man understands and heaves a sigh.
Someday he may be called upon to die,
defending rights that lesser men deny.
Asked for his reasons he makes this reply.

Liberty is a tree that must be watered,
with the blood of patriot men who will be slaughtered
to reclaim the rights the cowardly have bartered.
Yes, Liberty is a tree that must be watered.
