The Party's Over
The conflict between the two party pols at last has begun
Now that all the facts that no one will hear are made manifest.
Of course they will both continue to poll the voters en masse
Ensuring that they position themselves as counterfeits would
In order that “good” be done for the land they claim as their own.
Ruth no longer gleans the stray winter wheat from harvested fields
Nor weaves up the flax she found left behind when threshing was through
Or bends back her bow loath though she may be some conie to kill.
New marvels of man may claim that they free her from nature's fate
Her hope that the state could meet every need is all that remains.
Why must we delay until at our door tsunamis are seen?
Like nearsighted men we can not perceive the obvious cracks
Republics endure when servants are wont to belie their oaths.
We have but one lack that justice and truth might once more hold sway
A nation of braves who stand on their feet and do what they should
